Athanasios "Nasos" Dousis is Director of Protein & RNA Engineering at Tessera since 2022. He and his team develop and apply computational methods, including AI-based tools, to design novel protein and RNA sequences for Tessera's Gene Writingä platform. Tessera’s technology is being used to cure genetic diseases and treat cancer. From 2015 to 2022, Nasos held several roles at Moderna, during which he and his team applied enzyme and antibody engineering, lipid modeling, and computational chemistry to advance Moderna's core technology and support various therapeutic and vaccine programs. He is a co-inventor on 10 patent grants and multiple pending applications, as well as a co-author of several peer-reviewed publications in molecular modeling and engineering.
Nasos holds a BS and M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in computational biophysics from Rice University.
