Russell A. Ogle, PhD, is a Principal Engineer for the Thermal Sciences practice at Exponent, Inc. (4580 Weaver Parkway, Suite 100, Warrenville, IL 60555; Email: rogle@exponent.com). He applies his expertise as a chemical engineer to the scientific investigation and prevention of accidents. He has 37 years of industrial experience working in fire, explosion, and chemical safety. Ogle has investigated hundreds of fires and explosions in industrial, commercial, and residential settings. His expertise includes combustible dust explosions and fires, process safety management, process systems engineering, chemical reactivity hazards, product safety investigations, and environmental losses. As a natural outgrowth of his environmental engineering experience, he is exploring strategies for climate intervention including carbon management and renewable energy. Ogle received his BS in chemical engineering from Purdue Univ., a PhD in chemical engineering from the Univ. of Iowa, and an MS in atmospheric and oceanic sciences from the Univ. of Wisconsin. He is a licensed professional engineer, a certified safety professional, and a Fellow of AIChE.
