Kongsberg Digital: How to Improve your Integrated Process and Flow Modelling with Multipurpose Dynamic Simulators
Tuesday, March 28th, 2017
1:30-2:45 PM
Room 212A, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
Wednesday, March 29th, 2017
10:30-11:45 AM
Room 213A, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
In the energy industry today, modelling and simulation have become very specialized, but these activities are domain specific and typically lack interdisciplinary collaboration. This workshop will demonstrate state of the art technologies to meet the current challenges of lifecycle simulation including design, commissioning, operations, and late life modifications. A case study will be presented to show how a subsea multiphase model was built and integrated with a process model to provide a Multipurpose Dynamic Simulation system for engineering, procedure validation, training, and real time decision support and advanced analytics.
Sphera Solutions: Execution Measurements to Increase Safety Performance
Tuesday, March 28th, 2017
1:30-2:45 PM
Room 213B, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
Presented by Carrie Young, VP Sphera Solutions, cyoung@spherasolutions.com
Most organizations currently have an incident management system that allows them to record event information including incidents and near misses (or near hits). Compliance reporting such as OSHA logs or descriptive event reporting such as “time to action item closure”, “number of near misses to incidents” and “number of hand (or other body part) injuries” are typical reports that are generated from such systems. However, these well invested tools are not being used to their maximum potential. Monitoring your organization’s ability to execute the operational risk communication processes will help uncover which parts of your business are ready to take their process to the next level of maturity while also identifying other parts that may need help just getting the basics down. This workshop will explore an additional set of metrics and indicators that will help take your organization to a greater level of safety performance.
What you will learn:
- How others in this industry are leveraging process execution metrics and indicators.
- What a mature incident management business process and its associated performance looks like.
- Steps you can take to build a more robust operational risk communication solution.
Who should attend:
- Safety professionals interested in improving safety performance.
- Executives responsible for the safety of their organization.
Sphera Solutions: Making Your HAZOP Study Work for You…In Real Time
Wednesday, March 29th, 2017
10:15-11:30 AM
Room 218, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
Too often, a HAZOP study, despite the investment of human and financial capital, becomes a stand-alone document, securely archived for regulatory purposes. Many disparate processes, or in fact even a lack of processes, related to study follow-up activities may not give you the insight you need into what actual risks your operation poses on a day-to-day basis. In this workshop, we will walk through an example to see how making more effective use of your HAZOP study can streamline the follow-up process for action items, provide insight into the true effectiveness of safeguards, and help to ensure that acceptable risks aren’t slowly creeping, unnoticed, into unacceptable territory. This workshop will demonstrate how you can get the HAZOP to work for you, instead of just having you work for your HAZOP.
Who should attend:
- EHS, Engineering or Safety professionals interested in learning a better way to manage HAZOP requirements.

We all recognize there is a journey to get to Industry 4.0, Manufacturing 4.0, or Refining 4.0. How do we get to the smart factory? The smart factory includes the Internet of Things, Cloud computing, cyber-physical process, and Analytics. Teradata is working with companies on their journey to smart factories by helping companies with their analytics. Teradata is providing companies with access to the power of analytics by combining their sensor data and SAP data at granular detail level to gain insights on how to improve costs and work processes. We will discuss the methods we apply to capture Historian and sensor data with no historical home and integrate with other both internal and external data. We will also discuss our data integration solution, TAS for SAP, which is helping companies get at granular data in SAP which has helped our customers with their business journey to the smart factory.
Teradata: Connected Supply Chain as part of Industry4.0
Tuesday, March 28th, 2017
3:30-4:45 PM
Room 212A, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
“Things” are getting more and more connected in today’s environment. We can leverage the connected things to collect the data in real time and transform the supply chain to be more responsive. Traditional supply chain planning that primarily depended on buffering against the observed variance from the historical data can now move towards more proactive and even predictive planning to sense and respond to the ever changing events. Learn more about how Teradata is helping organizations with complex supply chains to ingest massive data, run through learning algorithms to predict the issues and estimate the impact, and drive the business actions to mitigate the supply chain risks.
