Clare’s early career focused on cancer research; she completed a PhD at Children’s Medical Research Institute through the University of Sydney where she studied telomere length maintenance. After a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, Davis focusing on biochemical reconstitution of the homologous recombination pathway, she transitioned to Telomere Diagnostics, Inc. where she led the development of a direct-to-consumer sample collection kit for telomere length measurement. Clare joined the diagnostics team at Mammoth Biosciences in 2018 where she is currently leading the Clinical and Assay R&D team. She and her team focus on developing sample preparation technologies and adapting new CRISPR assays onto diagnostics platforms.
