Jesse Bloom is an associate professor at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center and an Investigator of HHMI. Jesse’s group uses a mix of computation and experiment to study the evolution of viruses, including influenza virus, SARS-CoV-2, and HIV. Jesse received his PhD in Chemistry from Caltech in 2007 (where he studied protein evolution with FrancesArnold), and performed a postdoc with David Baltimore at Caltech from 2007-2011. He then started his research group at the Fred Hutch in 2011.
