Government plan aims to improve biotech regulations

The Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration and Department of Agriculture have announced plans to improve coordination and consolidate regulation on biotechnology-modified animals, plants and microorganisms to allow for more rapid commercialization of biotech innovations to address food security and fight climate change. The Biotechnology Innovation Organization welcomes the plan, saying "We need a regulatory process that works at the speed of today's innovation."
