American Institute of Chemical Engineers Joins Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry to Cosponsor BIOPRO Expo 2010

May 13, 2010

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has signed on as a cosponsor for BioPro Expo, which is organized by the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI). BioPro Expo will be held from August 24th to 26th at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

Similarly, TAPPI will become a co-sponsor of AIChE’s 2010 Annual Meeting, with special interest in the programming of AIChE’s Forest Bioproducts Division. AIChE’s Annual Meeting will be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, from November 7th to 12th.

Under the agreement, the organizations will promote each other’s events and extend their membership discount rates for the events to members of the co-sponsoring organization. June Wispelwey, AIChE’s executive director, said, “We’re excited to be building cooperation that can only benefit efforts to meet society’s energy challenges, in this case by sharing expertise in biofuels.”

BioPro Expo™ 2010 explores existing and emerging ways for transforming a variety of biomass feedstocks into energy and biofuel. The event brings together suppliers of agricultural, municipal and wood wastes, as well as producers of dedicated energy crops and food processing facilities. Using case studies and technical sessions, along with a tradeshow and hands-on technology interaction, attendees get new information and insight for rapidly deploying bioenergy technology. AIChE’s Annual Meeting focuses on the latest research in energy, including bioenergy, as well as hydrogen, oil and gas production. Additional topics include environmental sustainability, green process engineering, biotechnology, pharmaceutical production, and nanotechnology in medicine.
