Bag filling devices often use vibrations and vacuum suction to get rid of entrapped air in between the solid material. This is done to efficiently fill the bags, but more importantly to reduce the amount of entrapped air, which may lead to instable piling of the bags, causing collapse of staged bags. To understand the bag filling process, investigations have been done on the use of vibration and vacuum suction to get a more dense product thus preventing the instable bag piling. In this work, the effect of temperature of the product coming from up-stream processing has been investigated. It will be shown what the effect of temperature is on the rate of bag filling and why this may lead to slower filling of bags in automated bag filling lines. A typical step change in the processing speed is observed.
