The reinterpretation of the equations for friction factor for dry pressure drop in terms of a simplified power law model proposed by Stichlmair et al (1989) has been shown to be incorrect and unnecssary as it does not simplify the model equations developed for the prediction of wet pressure drop, liquid holdup, and flooding velocity substantially nor the computations involved get simplified. Straight forward prediction of the above parameters following the basic model equations of Stichlmair et al but avoiding the use of power law model have been developed and their experimental data have been reinterpreted. New experimental results for dry pressure drop, wet pressure drop, holdup, loading and flooding velocities obtained by using IMTP and Mellapak 350Y packings in a 30 cm dia packed column in the present work have also been evaluated by using the corrected model of Stichlmair et al (1989)
