Abstract: Synergistic effect on co-gasification of chicken manure and petcoke was investigated. The gasification characteristic of chicken manure is found to vary significantly with reaction temperature. The ideal co-gasification temperature of chicken manure and petcoke is 900 °C. The CO2 gasification product of chicken manure is abundant in hydrogen, which is supposed to increase the hydrogen content in syngas. The catalytic effect of chicken manure ash on petcoke gasification is investigated individually. The yield of CO in petcoke and ash co-gasification product was more than 5 times higher than that in pure petcoke gasification product, which demonstrated the strong catalytic effect of chicken manure ash on gasification. High contents of calcium and potassium contribute to the dramatically catalytic effect of chicken manure ash. Microstructure of petcoke is analyzed during the gasification process. The heating value of chicken manure limited the gasification temperature. Therefore, the heating value of the feedstock can be increased because of the high carbon content of petcoke. Finally, air co-gasification of chicken manure and petcoke is studied at the temperature of 900 °C.
