Stuart Daw’s life and career were marked by making connections between different disciplines of ideas and people. His pioneering work in nonlinear dynamics and chaos in multiphase reacting-flow systems such as combustion and fluidization paved the way for new opportunities in several engineering disciplines. He was a strong believer in increasing collaborative efforts, and this led to his leadership in two major government research consortia in a framework that is a model for the Department of Energy today. Stuart also approached many aspects in his personal life the same way among his varied interests. In this talk, I will give highlights of Stuart’s life and career and the legacy he left with his colleagues and friends.
