With this presentation, Mary Ellen Ternes, B.E. (ChE), J.D., 2020 President of the American College of Environmental Lawyers, and Fellow and lifetime member of AIChE, will review the context, significant progress and important lessons learned beginning with the initial wave of United States environmental legislation and regulation. Attendees will acquire the necessary foundation for appreciating the history of environmental regulation in the United States, as well as current developments and the drivers and challenges impacting future directions in environmental regulation.
