Sponsored Technology Workshop - Engineering, Data Science and Open Access - Cambridge University Press

Authors

Pantelides, C. - Presenter, Process Systems Enterprise
Nieves-Remacha, M. J. - Presenter, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Misener, R. - Presenter, Imperial College London
Join us for an event linked to two Cambridge open access journals in engineering: In a 50-minute panel discussion (“Challenges and opportunities for data science in chemical engineering”), leading researchers from industry and academia will discuss how recent advances in data science methodologies can be applied to real-world chemical processes and industry. How can we leverage these technologies to make our chemical processes more efficient, profitable, environmentally friendly, and safe? What are the new avenues of research that combine chemical/process engineering and data science?

The discussion is chaired by Omar Matar (Imperial College London; Executive Editor of the Data-Centric Engineering journal). Speakers include Francisco Navarro-Brull (Industrial Data Scientist at Solvay); Oscar Mendez Lucio (Research Scientist, Artificial Intelligence for Drug Design, Janssen Pharmaceutical); Costas Pantelides (Managing Director at Process Systems Enterprise Ltd and Professor of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London); Maria Jose Nieves Remacha (Senior Research Scientist at Eli Lilly); Ruth Misener (Professor in Computational Optimisation at Imperial College London).

In a following talk Juan G. Santiago (Stanford University and Editor-in-Chief of Flow) will introduce Flow: a new, open access translational journal that focuses on the applications of fluid mechanics to technology, natural, and medical sciences, and descriptions of the physical world.
