(259d) Process Systems Engineering in the Era of Big-Data and Industry 4.0 Revolution

Industry 4.0 revolution focuses on cyber-physical system integration, internet of things, and applications of smart manufacturing. Combined with the information that can be extracted using the huge volume of data generated for the entire manufacturing cycle could lead to complete transformation of manufacturing of products. Process Systems Engineering can play a critical role in this revolution with the development of new modeling frameworks and algorithmic solution approaches that combine data-based with mechanistic modeling. In this talk, we will discuss some ideas towards this goal supported by different applications from pharmaceutical and chemical industry.
