(260e) Progress in Therapeutic Biologic Production Technologies and Future Challenges

Over the last 30 years, a series of advances in protein production technologies, often derived by collaboration at the interfaces of engineering, chemistry and biology, have led to improvements of several orders of magnitude in process efficiency enabling a wave of therapeutic products. In this presentation, several examples of these advances will be shared along with important remaining challenges for the future including implications on educating the engineers and scientists to solve these problems.
