It has long been recognized that many aspects of model generation and implementation in the domain of pharmaceutical process development belong in the pre-competitive space. Motivated by the high value that this type of collaboration could generate;, the Modeling Group of the Enable Technology Consortium completed a project in 2019 to partner with a provider of cloud HPC services (Rescale) incorporating a software-as-a-service model. This presentation will discuss the modalities in which the modeling platform has been leveraged to foster intra- and inter-company collaborations in the construction and deployment of mathematical models and the resulting increase in their adoption across different stages of the pharmaceutical process development cycle. The use of cloud-based computing resources combined with an easy-to-use and collaborative web-based interface coupled with automation tools like Rest-APIs promises to dramatically increase the direct access of end users to software applications which would normally be inaccessible due to their high computational requirements. Finally, we discuss the anticipated evolution of the platform to adapt to a highly dynamic landscape in cloud HPC and SaaS.
