(701a) Modeling of Taylor-Couette Vortices in Fluidized Beds

Despite the experimental discovery of Taylor-Couette vortices emerging in fluidized beds subject to shear in a Couette cell in 2004 (Conway et al., Nature 2004), the physics and potential applications of this phenomenon have yet to be investigated significantly since. Here, we utilize computational modeling to reproduce the phenomenon, investigate its origin and regimes of behavior.
