(702i) Process Intensification and Modular Chemicals Production – Reaction Engineering Opportunities and Challenges

In honor of Arvind Varma, I will present our recent research at Texas A&M in collaboration with both the Texas A&M Energy Institute and the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center in the field of chemical reaction engineering for process intensification. Specifically, we will review efforts in design and development of manufacturable, modular microchannel reactors for energy applications, as well as efforts to integrate optimal control and inherently safer operation principles in the development of intensified reactor technologies for pharmaceutical and fine chemicals manufacture.
