This session will feature talks on recent advances in materials strategies and functional interfaces to control microbial adhesion, proliferation, and dispersion. Topics will include novel therapeutic development, functionalized surfaces, new antimicrobial drug delivery strategies, and nanotopographical approaches to microbial control, among others. Highlighted applications will include medical device contamination, including treatment and prevention of medical device-associated biofilms, and treatment and prevention of systemic microbial infections.
