Alper, H. - Presenter, The University of Texas at Austin
It was once said, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” While the tools, applications, and problems in bioengineering certainly embrace a changing ability to understand and engineer biology, they also draw upon a solid foundation of chemical engineering principles and paradigms. One needs to look no further than then the person of honor for this session, Prof. Nicholas Peppas, to recognize the importance of understanding past scholarly approaches in order to trailblaze new paths forward. This talk will highlight the past, current, and future home for modern bioengineering within the discipline of chemical engineering with an emphasis on teaching, mentorship, and research.
