(31c) My Professional Development from Polymer Synthesis Chemist to Polymer Process Engineer

In this talk I will discuss my progression from a synthetic polymer chemist to a polymer process engineer. I will walk through case studies of projects in Coatings R&D in which the training I received during graduate research enabled me to apply state-of-the-art synthetic techniques to create differentiated products. I will also outline how comprehensive understanding of structure-property relationships in complex coating systems allowed for rapid troubleshooting of product formulations. Finally, I will discuss how my interest in coding and data analysis helped me design solutions in the areas of polymer design and polymer process engineering, which resulted in improved manufacturing efficiency and IP capture.
