(346c) Dynamics of Sustainable Agriculture & Food Supply Chains

Cargill and many other food and agricultural companies have signed on to the Science Based Target Initiative to lower greenhouse gas emissions. Cargill has established goals to reduce scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 and scope 3 emissions by 2030. The solutions to lower emissions in the farming of crops require an alignment of the entire food supply chain to create the right incentives for change. The need for liquid fuels with a low carbon footprint will also drive changes in agriculture, more specifically in the mix of crops grown. Known solutions and innovative solutions and their impacts across the Food-Energy-Water nexus will be presented.
