(49g) Coacheng: Virtual Mentoring for Chemical Engineering Students

Remote learning has posed many challenges into the delivery of quality education for chemical engineering students. However, this remote setup has also opened up opportunities to rethink ways on how learning can be made holistic and cross borders and time zones. Here, we are presenting our CoaChEng program, an E-mentoring program at the University of the Philippines Diliman Chemical Engineering program. CoaChEng is a joint effort of alumni and faculty of the Department aimed at providing relevant one-on-one mentoring sessions for undergraduate students taking up chemical engineering. CoaChEng delivers dedicated sessions on topics such as communication skills, advocating, collaboration, among others. The goal of the program is to provide complementary non-technical skills to undergraduate students using remote learning platform and online tools. Insights on the challenges and opportunities from e-mentoring shall also be discussed.
