This project introduces an innovative approach to manufacturing carbon-carbon (C/C) composites via 3D printing, intertwining artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and comprehensive life cycle and techno-economic analyses (LCA/TEA) to optimize production processes. Led by Prof. Kenan Song, the team combines expertise in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and AI to revolutionize C/C composite fabrication. The initiative aims to enhance the structural, thermal, and mechanical properties of C/C composites, making them viable for high-performance applications in aerospace and automotive sectors. Through advanced 3D printing techniques, the project addresses the scalability and efficiency challenges in traditional C/C composite manufacturing, offering a path towards sustainable and economically viable production methods.
