(136d) Improving Outcomes with Industry Input: How Engagement with Stakeholders Informs Science and Engineering

Authors

Engaging with stakeholders throughout the research process is critical to success when developing new technologies and processes. Listening to stakeholder concerns can inform researchers about what topics and issues are most important and identify knowledge gaps or misconceptions. Outside expertise and knowledge can further enrich the research process resulting in a better final product than what may have been originally conceived. This presentation will highlight some best practices at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for industry engagement. The presentation will also highlight formal collaboration mechanisms to consider when partnering with a national laboratory.
