(191b) Overcoming Activation Barriers: A Career in Catalysis

Authors

Scott, S. - Presenter, University of California, Santa Barbara
Catalysis is an old field with incredible staying-power, just as relevant to chemical engineering today as it was a century ago. Yet the field has also changed, as the participants, their interests, and their goals have evolved. Senior women in catalysis still tend to collect "firsts", and in so doing hope they are reducing barriers for others. This talk will describe the speaker's personal investments in catalyzing change, and her observations on how the field of catalysis has responded.
