(200d) A Nice Time at Rpi

Authors

Coppens, M. O. - Presenter, University College London
My time at RPI as a Professor from 2006-2012 is filled with wonderful memories. I will present some of our work on Nature-Inspired Chemical Engineering (NICE), the vision of which evolved during a crucial time at RPI, creating the foundation for the broader, interdisciplinary Centre for Nature-Inspired Engineering (CNIE) at UCL. RPI is where my research veered increasingly into applying NICE to problems related to nano- and biotechnology, water, and electrochemical devices, merging it with my background in catalysis and reaction engineering, and molecular thermodynamics. Transforming the capstone chemical process design course at RPI shaped the way I developed the NICE course at UCL. This presentation will reflect on the nurturing environment, wonderful colleagues and students, making RPI such a special place: Here's to old Rensselaer, she stands today without a peer!
