(20b) From Microhydrodynamics to Computational Drug Discovery - My Journey with Bill Russel

Authors

Kim, S. - Presenter, Purdue University
My journey with Bill Russel started in the fall semester of 1979 at Princeton and concluded with my PhD defense January 1983. This presentation starts with the co-authored papers (published in JFM) with Bill on modeling of porous media via renormalization of the Stokes equation. After the PhD defense and launching my own academic career, my efforts to differentiate my research from my PhD roots leads me to computational methods and ultimately the information technology revolution at the dawn of the internet and the worldwide web for the pharmaceutical industry. The presentation will conclude with comments on the future promise of computer-aided, rational drug discovery including the role of "AI".
