(270d) How a Young Technical Geek Wandered into Management and Later into Management at a Professional Society and Ended up Loving it.

This presentation tells how I wandered into technical and project management as a young Ph.D. chemical engineer more or less by accident, certainly not by design. Later career developments forced me into a management role at AIChE. Although initially hesitant (actually scared to death and trying not to show it) I fell in love with the job and with the profession. My sound chemical engineering education proved to be extremely important throughout my long career in ways I could never have imagined.
