Charged and Ion-Containing Polymers III: Membranes and Other Applications
Wednesday, October 30, 2024 - 2:30pm to 2:45pm
In this presentation, three separate case studies will be presented.
In the first case study, the flow of a power-law non-Newtonian liquid with relatively low consistency in a flat bottom baffled tank is simulated. Emphasis will be on predicting axial, radial, and tangentially velocity distribution and comparing it with available experimental data.
The second case study will have a higher consistency index. The vessel will be equipped with double helical blades. Focus will be on predicting blend time, torque/power, and the viscosity field.
Finally, the third case study will have a gel-like, highly viscous non-Newtonian, power-law, liquid flowing through an eight-element static mixer. The case will focus on the viscous heating aspect associated with both the high viscosity and the static mixer geometry.
