(575b) A Model for Chirality-Driven Phase Transitions

Authors

Debenedetti, P. - Presenter, Princeton University
A chiral tetramer model will be introduced. It is inspired by the geometry of the smallest and simplest chiral molecule, hydrogen peroxide. The model exhibits rich fluid-phase behavior, including chiral symmetry breaking. The underlying thermodynamics and phase transition kinetics will be discussed, as well as some possible implications for the origin of biological homochirality.
