(681b) Site Location and Impacts of Valorization Operations

Valorization operations are not unlike recycling facilities. In contrast to landfills, location of valorization and recycling operations do not require extensive site analyses. Each operation can be located in an industrial zone. However, if the zone is within the vicinity of residential development, these facilities pose impacts including odor, truck traffic, noise and dust. This study examines the location of selected valorization plants near residential areas and examines potential impacts and whether the operation has a mitigation program.
