Biomass Conversion and Biorefining III: Conversion of Alcohols and Ethers

Chair(s)

Bukowski, B., Johns Hopkins University

Co-chair(s)

This session focuses on reaction fundamentals, conversion, and catalytic technologies for converting biomass or its derivatives into fuels and chemicals. Topics include, but are not limited to: experimental and theoretical studies for characterization, reactivity, micro- and macrokinetic studies of biomass thermal and/or catalytic conversion, catalytic materials for biomass processing, technologies for biomass pretreatment and upgrading, and catalytic conversion of lignocellulose, starch, sugars, and lipids to fuels and chemicals, among others. In addition, pyrolysis, gasification, torrefaction, and hydrothermal strategies for thermal and catalytic processes are appropriate.
