The Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Program at Michigan State University

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Michigan State University (http://www.chems.msu.edu/) offers MS and PhD degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. We provide research opportunities in three main thrust areas: Energy and Sustainability, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology, and Biomedical Engineering & Biotechnology. Within these thrusts lie myriad research activities in diverse fields that include thermoelectric, fuel cells, renewable energy production, hydrogen production, biorenewable polymers, bio-based industrial materials, smart materials, systems biology, proteomics, tissue engineering, and biosensors. Key research laboratories include the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center, the Composite Materials and Structures Center, the Interdisciplinary Bioelectronics Training Program, and the Center for Revolutionary Materials for Solid State Energy Conversion. The department offers accelerated online bridging courses and chemical engineering certificates specifically designed to prepare non-chemical engineering students for graduate studies in chemical engineering.
