The Digital Plant of the Future: How Big Data and AI are Affecting the Way We Operate

As engineers, our ability to perform quality work is directly dependent on the data and the assumptions that we use in our analyses. The simple truth is that wherever you go to work, that data will be fragmented, duplicated, difficult to find, in peoples’ heads, in an old dusty file room, missing, or just plain wrong. This workshop will delve into how engineering in manufacturing is generally done now and highlight the potential pitfalls in the current data environment. We will then pivot into a much more interesting discussion about how Celanese has undertaken an ambitious digital transformation to solve many of these problems. Integrating data, using data at scale, creating meaningful data history, and leveraging the latest in artificial intelligence technology are all being used to make our business safer, more sustainable, and streamlined. This workshop will be based around some real examples and will include demonstrations of generative AI tools, 3D modeling, and integrated data platforms.
