Methanol waste water Case study Abstract.
In the world of methanol, waste water treatment is a critical aspect not due to methanol residual in the process waste water, but due other byproducts produced during the methanol formation process, which forms a challenge in waste water treatment.
One of these byproducts is Formic acid which makes its way to the waste water system through direct and indirect paths.
In this paper will discuss a case where the client and licensor expected a low BOD & COD in waste water of a methanol facility, which lead them to believe that BOD is below the limits. However, through further investigation of the process other by products were found in the waste stream.
