(52b) Modernize Learning with AI, XR and Microlearning

Experiential microlearning is replacing the classroom. Training programs have traditionally focused on providing large amounts of information over a short period of time, followed by an assessment of some sort to confirm knowledge. The reality is that humans can’t retain all this information and most of it is forgotten within weeks of the initial training... even more so today with the shorter human attention span.

The new generation of workers learns by doing and in short and spaced out bits, with just-in-time information that is always available and accessible at their fingertips. To keep up with this generation and drive sustained behaviors and results, operations and maintenance training programs are deployed in the cloud and incorporate simulation, AR/VR, AI, and microlearning techniques that are proven to increase retention times. This presentation will show how these learning styles can be applied in an industrial setting.

As we move to an era where consistency in performance is more important than ever, maintaining knowledge becomes a key factor in operator competency that can yield incredible results when aligned with business objectives. One and done training is over.
