Engineered Safeguards: Pressure Relief and Safety Instrumented Systems I
Wednesday, August 19, 2020 - 11:00am to 11:20am
Multiple strategies exist for designing (or verifying the design of) emergency relief systems. The two most prominent approaches are kinetic modeling and analytical methods. A case study involving the storage of an organic peroxide, dicumyl peroxide, will be presented in order to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of both techniques. Methods will be compared by starting with a simple analysis and progressing to more complex analyses, with a focus on time and cost to the end user.
