(91b) Using Open Innovation to Design Chemical Products

In this presentation we will share our experiences as a solution provider for several open innovation projects. The goals of these projects were to develop new chemical products ranging from novel automotive windshield washer fluids to advanced nail polish formulations. Some of the experiences we will discuss include: how we use the NineSigma Open Innovation platform as our “matchmaker” for connecting our small business, having an expertise in physical property modeling, with large companies seeking solutions; how Q&A opportunities before proposal submissions can be extremely helpful; how having a champion in the company seeking a solution is very important. Finally, we will show why we believe the Open Innovation model has provided us with opportunities to collaborate with businesses whom we might never have thought could use our expertise.
