(116g) Accelerative Engagement for a Successful PHA Facilitation

Authors

Israni, K. - Presenter, Environmental Resources Management (ERM)

Accelerative Learning (AL) has been practiced for several decades. This is a proven technique for adult learning, time and time again. Success in this means improved engagement in the class room.

Process hazard analysis (PHA), has also been in existence for the past few decades. PHAs are always conducted in a workshop environment, and their success is dependent on the level of engagement and preparation. Audience participation is always a challenge.

The author has applied a non conventional approach incorporating the concepts of AL to PHAs. This has resulted in a higher level of personnel engagement, that has allowed and improved the brain storming needed during PHAs. The author will share some success stories while highlighting the benefits of this hybrid technique.
