In the refineries, those widely used chemicals require a good storage and transportation standards. In order to create a safe environment for those areas, TüpraÅ has created its own âChemical Interaction Matrixâ. In this matrix, various aspects of chemicals are handled and each Unit has its own matrix.
As a starting point, each of the chemicals are checked as per their stability and reactivity properties from their safety data sheets. The chemicals that do not have detailed information are reacted to each other in the laboratory in order to see if there is a dangerous reaction.
Chemicals that may cause a dangerous reaction to people and environment are stored seperately and the properties of each are shown in the matrixes. These matrixes are hanged on the unit boards so that everyone can see and check if the storage is provided correctly.
It is important to keep these matrixes up-to-date. The matrix is updated when a new chemical arrives in the unit and everybody is informed about update. The update and information is achieved wit the actions that we tracked via our MoC (Management of Change) system.
