Effective Safety Management system has Leading Indicators serving as the backbone. These indicators, in lieu of the lagging ones, provide a realistic picture of the company’s performance.

Monitoring and measuring KPI’s related to Safety are a common practice in modern industry. But, the effectiveness of a robust system can neither be ignored nor be overlooked. An effective Leading Indicators’ monitoring program focuses not only on Process Safety Performance but also on the Behavioral Safety and Operational Excellence parameters. Only then, can an organization build a realistic image and a practically effective Safety Management system.

World Class Safety systems therefore, focus on having a blend of multiple Safety Related performance indicators, in their due weightage, not limited to compliance numbers, as their drive to change.
