(133a) Actionable Insights from Automated Measurements : Using Cloud Technology to Drive Performance Improvement

With data as the “new oil”, distilling data and information into actionable insights has been the focus of digital transformation projects the last 5 years. New delivery platforms, integrated systems, and formats to consume these results have evolved valuable insights away from their data silos.

Automating process simulation outputs with real-time data drives a new conversation in how we measure our plants. Graduating from single case runs to data-triggered simulation runs widens the aperture for Operations, Maintenance, and Planning to monitor plant performance and product quality.

The OLI Cloud APIs coupled with data historians are enabling first-principles based models to predict and trend scaling and corrosion behavior in piping and process units in industrial processes. The OLI APIs serve as a virtual chemistry lab in the cloud delivering adjusted integrity operating windows and projected product additions that enable prescriptive actions. This data can be visualized in PI Vision dashboard, Excel spreadsheet or a custom application. This presentation will discuss how soft sensors that predict hard to measure chemical properties like pH can be used to manage process operations effectively and efficiently.
