Hydrogen in Refining
Wednesday, April 13, 2022 - 1:30pm to 1:55pm
In refinery applications, the vast majority of hydrogen is produced via steam-methane reforming. Typically, this hydrogen production emits a high degree of CO2 into the atmosphere; however, through effective deployment of carbon capture technology, the process CO2 can be captured for sequestration or utilization, turning this Grey H2 into Blue H2. With existing and upcoming governmental policy, Blue H2 can be viable in the current economic environment. With careful selection of carbon capture technology and configuration, specific economic objectives can be optimized, further improving economic viability.
