Industry contributes significantly to U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and tackling industrial emissions will therefore need to be a key element of U.S. climate policy. Furthermore, the resources that U.S. industry can bring to bear â including financial resources, technical knowledge, research capacity, and workforce skills â make it potentially a global leader for industrial decarbonization. Pioneering policy approaches, technical advances, and demonstration projects in the U.S. could help enable industrial transitions throughout the world. Realizing this vision will require concerted, collaborative efforts between the U.S. public and private sectors. A key to success will be establishing such partnerships at both federal and state levels of government.
