One of the key challenge Paper Industries face is that the fugitive release of process gases containing ClO2 and Sulfur related compounds such as Methyl Mercaptanes, H2S, Dimethyl Sulphide during process upsets from process vents. This results in possibility of these process gases impacting the environment and may also affect operating personnel in the vicinity. Concerned Industries are taking earnest steps to improve by providing engineered safeguards and mitigation measures.
This paper will explain, the following in detail:
- How fugitive releases of process gases are getting dispersed around the plant, considering the wind current (airflow), dispersion characteristics (plume), change in temperature & density using software model.
- How the dispersion will have an impact on people working not only at ground level and also in adjoining blocks, higher elevation of structures from the release point etc.
- Based on engineering solutions , providing source control methods,
- Mitigation measures to reduce impact of these gases considering various challenges in operating plant.
- Also this paper will give an idea that, using the vent dispersion analysis, how simultaneous operation can be planned during the brown field expansion to determine the safe working envelop.
Details of all these aspects are dealt in depth in the Paper which will be submitted.
