By Enlarge in developing world, Safety is always treated as burden or hurdle in speedy work. It gets further tough to manage where bulk of working level work force and contractors has a wrong faith i.e. “What is supposed to happen it has to happen as no one can fight with God’s will” So safety is useless.

Confronting such cultural barriers and limitations; this paper will describe a unique approach Fatima Fertilizer Site adopted to implement its corporate vision of being among best in HSE and strive to be world class.

Resulting efforts has produced a steady culture change at every level of organization hierarchy where now safety is considered as way of doing routine work. FFL stipulated a Process Safety Management (PSM) Program as the major corner-stone. Started as a self-initiative to corporate with values beside firm believes of leadership that a robust & well-ingrained PSM implementation equate to enhanced safety, reliability and productivity.

Same is evident from companies performance i.e. No Fatality / Loss Time Injury after implementation (sine 2012), lowest TRIR and above 57 million safe man-hours (to date) with almost 15% increase in plant productivity.

DuPont 22 element PSM program was implemented (in-house). DuPont, being the external consultant assessed the site twice and declared FFL site operating at excellence level of Process Safety.

This complete transformation completes in shortest possible time of 3 years and performance is consistent since last 8 years
