The decision taken at early stage of life cycle of petrochemical facility greatly affect the effort required to manage and reduce the risk during operation phase. This abstract is shedding light of best practices & experience on how to integrate both PSM & project management system to have an effective risk control during site selection, technology selection, design & installation which will ensure proper equipment design and installation, and to maintain the integrity of the facility during operations.

The main focus of this paper is on proactively implementing process safety requirements at the optimum timeframe with the right level information but also to ensure the right process safety activities are conducted at the right time, project leadership will have the right (process safety) information in order to be able to make the right risk management decisions regarding safety.
