Dividing wall columns are known for energy reduction because they remove the inbuilt intrinsic thermodynamic inefficiencies as a result of which better product specifications are obtained. Also for getting desired product specifications they require lesser energy as compared to their conventional counterparts. A few revamps done at some of the known petrochemical complexes across the globe are sure to set an example to other facilities so as to take up challenges and identify area wherein this technology paves way to net zero.

Case Studies to be discussed:

  • Debottlenecking of Hexane unit at South Asian refinery and its effect on reducing net emission from the facility
  • Installation of Dividing wall DAS splitter in LOBS Unit of Indian refinery
  • Xylene Recovery at South Asian refinery in one column system by use of Dividing wall column and its effect in reducing emissions.
