Employee turnover and lack of standardized training on loading and unloading racks, both truck and railcar, can lead to incidents. This applies to both self-loading racks for truck drivers, as well as racks operated by asset owner operations personnel. Whether petroleum products or hazardous chemicals, safety and profitability are at stake.

We will analyze loading and unloading procedures and outline the key challenges around training people who load and unload products into trucks and railcars. Lack of procedure clarity, lack of standardized training and procedure execution can lead to incidents, non-accidental releases or other unwanted events.

Knowledge Automation (a digital platform for field operators) has been successfully implemented at several leading manufacturers to train and qualify 3rd party truck drivers as well as their own operators, leading to more efficient and effective loading and unloading operations, fewer incidents and increased safety. We will take a look at the impact this digital platform has had.
